On Behalf of the over 800 men and women of Suffolk County Corrections, I would like to welcome you to our new public web site. It is our hope that this site will serve as an educational tool for the public to understand who Correction Officers are, and the very vital role they play in Suffolk County Law Enforcement. As you page through the sections, we want you to get a better idea how we serve you, the public, and the many things we also do, off duty, for the betterment of our communities.
Without an efficient and secure means to detain criminals and those who have been accused of committing criminal acts, there is no effective law enforcement. The safety of our families, and our communities depends on our ability to perform the task of detaining those individuals remanded to the custody of the Sheriff by the courts to be held over for trial and/or serve out sentences imposed by our courts for county inmates. The severity of these criminal acts ranges from scofflaws and petty theft all the way to violent crimes such as murder and assaults.
The professional men and women of Suffolk County Corrections welcome you to their site, and we hope you enjoy learning about our job, and about us!
